With nearly 60 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Silverstein is a proven expert in the field of neurology. Specializing in Parkinson’s disease, he has operated as a part-time healthcare consultant for the past four years, having retired from full-time work in 2000. For the majority of his career, he operated as the lead neurologist and medical director of the Struthers Parkinson’s Center, which he co-founded in 1964. With offices based in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, Dr. Silverstein’s organization, in conjunction with HealthPartners & Park Nicollet, continues to provide the highest quality medical, rehabilitation and support services to patients and their families struggling with Parkinson’s disease.

Adjacent to his primary duties, Dr. Silverstein also served as a neurologist at the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology from 1966 to 2000. In his other early professional endeavors, he similarly worked in general neurology at his local Methodist Hospital in 1967. Over the course of his career, he has also held positions as a manager and chairman for other local health care clinics. Ever committed to his industry, Dr. Silverstein remains affiliated with several pertinent organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Neurology and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Dr. Silverstein pursued a formal education. As a student of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities from 1957 to 1964, he achieved a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Science in medicine, and a Doctor of Medicine before completing a residency in neurology. Additionally, he completed extensive coursework in neuropathology at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Well-regarded for his own scholarly output, Dr. Silverstein has also authored and co-authored several articles pertaining to his work in the field.

To commemorate his achievements, Dr. Silverstein has been honored with several accolades throughout his career. Chief among these, his organization created the Annual Silverstein Award in his honor. In light of his fulfilling career, he has largely attributed his success to his dedication to excellence. Accounting for his accomplishments, Dr. Silverstein is proud to have helped countless patients throughout his time in the field. Likewise, he is grateful to have been offered the opportunity to lecture at a medical school in Japan.
