Dr. George O. Akinkuoye, PMHNP-BC, DNP, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer at Medical Community Psychotherapy LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in behavioral health services.

A multi-skilled and multi-faceted leader, Dr, Akinkuoye began his career in architecture and construction after obtaining a Bachelor of Science in architecture from Nigeria’s University of Ife, which is currently known as Obafemi Awolowo University, in 1987 and a Bachelor of Science in construction management from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1993. To this end, he gained valuable planning and project management experience during his ten years of service with Holloway & Sons Construction and subsequently as a practicing architect.

Upon shifting his career focus to medicine, Dr. Akinkuoye continued his training in that field by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2010, a Master of Science in psychiatric mental health practice in 2010, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2015 from Regis College. His additional medical accreditation also include a license in drug addiction treatment, his certification in medical community psychotherapy, his board certification as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, his certification as an advanced practice registered nurse and his certification as a registered nurse.

In 1992, Dr. Akinkuoye entered the medical field with positions as registered nurse supervisor, a minimum data set coordinator and emergency medical responder at Wrentham Developmental Center. He also served as an emergency medical responder at Glavin Regional Center, and as a nursing assistant at Resident Care Rehab and Nursing Center. From 2006 to 2011, he worked as an emergency response registered nurse at the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services. Dr. Ankikuoye served as the chief executive officer of Medicol Inc. from 2008 to 2013. He has been a partner at Collaborative Mental Health Services, Inc. since 2010 and president and chief executive officer of Medical Community Psychotherapy LLC since 2018.

In addition to his medical accomplishments, Dr. Akinkuoye is a published author and music composer. His books include “Exercise – A Master Healer: Exercising Your Mind, Body and Spirit Together: Excellent Key to a Super Human State of Higher Consciousness,” and “The Connection Between Music and Sleep Quality: An Integrative Literature Review.” He composed the inspirational gospel song “True Love” as well as “In Boston, We Are Strong and Resilient” to support the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
