Jorge A. Prada, MD, founder and director of the Nutrition Emphasis Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical nutrition.
Dr. Prada is a proven leader in the health care industry, having accumulated over 40 years of experience in medicine and academia. Specializing in nutrition and medical education, he founded the Nutrition Emphasis Center PLLC in Rochester, Michigan, in 2009. As part of his duties in the field, he actively promotes the importance of proper nutrition in the lives of his patients and clients. Dr. Prada is currently in the process of expanding his operations so that he may offer his unique services to more individuals in his community.
Prior to founding his own business, Dr. Prada excelled as a professor and as the director of clinical research at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine for 25 years. During his time at the college, he focused his efforts on nutritional, cardiovascular and disease prevention research and education. Today, he retains the honorable title of professor emeritus at the institution. He also worked with the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center for many years, operating with the division of neonatology and the Bone Research Center. At the onset of his career, Dr. Prada practiced medicine in his home country of Colombia between 1979 and 1980.
Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Dr. Prada cultivated his own formal education, ultimately achieving a Doctor of Medicine at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in 1978. He subsequently completed a residency in psychiatry, obstetrics and gynecology at the Regional General Hospital in Columbia and a residency in emergency medicine at the Bucaramanga Clinic. In addition to his academic credentials, he is also a board certified nutrition specialist, and he has completed several postdoctoral fellowships in hypertension, perinatology and nutrition. Furthermore, as a multi-faceted professional, Dr. Prada is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian.
Ever committed to his profession, Dr. Prada remains affiliated with the American Society for Nutrition, the American Heart Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the Canadian Nutrition Society. Well-regarded for his accomplishments in the field, he was previously honored with a Service Award from the University of Cincinnati in 1992. In light of his fulfilling career, Dr. Prada has largely attributed his success to the love and support of his parents.
