With more than 20 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Gowda has excelled as a physician with the U.S. Department of Defense’s Fort Belvoir Community Hospital since 2022. She was previously a medical consultant and fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the director of occupational employee health with the Veterans Affairs Southeast Louisiana Healthcare System, and an attending physician at the Maine General Medical Center. Dr. Gowda has also shared her expertise as an adjunct professor at Tulane University.
In preparation for her career, Dr. Gowda attended Harvard University as a visiting undergraduate student from 2006 to 2007 and graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Science in neuroscience in 2008. She earned a Doctor of Medicine from Brown Medical School in 2012. Dr. Gowda concluded her formal education with a Master of Public Health in environmental and occupational health sciences from the University of Washington in 2016. She holds numerous professional certifications in various areas, including Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. Dr. Gowda is also a fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
For her accomplishments, Dr. Gowda was named the Outstanding Master’s Student of the Year by the University of Washington School of Public Health in 2016. She was nominated for the Gilbert S. Omenn Award by the University of Washington School of Public Health and earned a Presidential Award for Outstanding Academic Improvement in 1997. Dr. Gowda has maintained affiliation with the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the International Commission on Occupational Health, the American Occupational Health Conference, and the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, swimming, reading, writing, drawing, and watching movies.
