Ismael Albacete Holipas Jr., MD, DABA, MJF, Anesthesiologist (Retired) at Park Slope Anesthesia Associates, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in anesthesiology.

A retired anesthesiologist since 2019, Dr. Holipas excelled in a 40-year career dedicated at Park Slope Anesthesia Associates and NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, now known as NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Throughout his career, he had also served on the hospital’s Quality Assurance Committee from 1980 to 2009 and as vice president and secretary for Park Slope Anesthesia Associates between 1998 and 2010. To prepare for his career, Dr. Holipas earned a Bachelor of Science in preparatory medicine from the University of San Agustin in 1960 and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas in 1970, both located in the Philippines. He went on to serve as a resident and fellow in anesthesia at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center and Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, respectively. 

Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Holipas has remained active with numerous organizations, including Philippine Medical Association Alumni in America, Kahirup USA, the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists, Inc., American Society of Anesthesiologists, New York Methodist Hospital Alumni Association and New York Methodist Hospital Medical Board. He has also served as president of the PMAA of NY, NJ, DE and PA, University of Santo Tomas Medical Alumni Association in America and South Ozone Park Medical Lions Club. Notably, Dr. Holipas has been named to America’s Top Anesthesiologists by the Consumer Research Council of America and honored with numerous citations and awards from the University of Santo Tomas Medical Alumni Association in America and Lions Clubs International, most recently having taken home the Earl and Ruth Williams Distinguished Service Award in 2017. Attributing much of his success to his wife’s unending support, Dr. Holipas takes pride in his contributions to furthering future generation’s education and serving countless patients. As a retiree, he looks forward to offering his time to his community for many years to come.
