Dr. Josefino B. Tunac, President and Chairman of Arterez Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in drug development and lab instrument invention.
Since 2019, Dr. Tunac has been the president and chairman of Arterez Inc. In this capacity, he employs his expertise in drug development, instrument invention and detrimental health effects of pollutants to develop compounds that treat diseases. He specializes in the discovery and development of drugs and worked on the development of Avermectin, which was awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine in 2015.
Dr. Tunac’s first discovery was Hydroheptin, which he found while working at the Waksman Institute and led to his hiring as a senior scientist by Merck. He worked for Warner-Lambert/Parke-Davis, which was later bought by Pfizer, as director of antibiotics and chemotherapy. Dr. Tunac founded Fermical Inc. and Farmaceutix LLC before starting Arterez Inc. In 2019.
In preparation for his career, Dr. Tunac graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science. He later completed graduate coursework at South Dakota State University and The Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Tunac concluded his higher education at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where he earned his doctorate.
For his accomplishments, Dr. Tunac was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Metropolitan Center for High Technology in Detroit, Michigan. Alongside his primary positions, he was the past president of the Rotary Club in Oxford, Michigan. Dr. Tunac became involved in his career field because of his fascination with the discovery of Penicillin antibiotics while living in the Philippines. He attributes his success to his determination and passion, and in the coming years, he hopes to continue excelling in his work.
