In preparation for his career in medicine, Dr. Fertig attended the St. George University School of Medicine and graduated with a Doctor of Medicine in 1989. He continued his education at the Seton Hall University School of Graduate Medicine, graduating in 1992, and completed an endocrinology residency at the Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in 1993. In 1994, Dr. Fertig completed an endocrinology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and in 1995, he completed an additional endocrinology fellowship at the Tulane University School of Medicine.
Dr. Fertig has been an associate professor at Hackensack Meridian Health’s JFK University Medical Center since 1995. From 1992 to 1993, he was a chief resident at the Englewood Hospital and Medical Center and a clinical instructor at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Dr. Fertig has published “Metabolism & Medicine” and maintains affiliation with the Endocrine Society, the American College of Endocrinology and the New Jersey Biological Society.
Dr. Fertig attributes his success to working and seeking help from more experienced professionals. He believes collaboration is the key to achieving anything great, and in writing his book “Metabolism & Medicine,” he sought help from many brilliant professionals.
