Moreover, he has been previously active as the medical director for the Cardiovascular Associates of the Southeast, the director and physician-in-chief with the Continuum Cardiovascular Centers of New York, a clinical professor of medicine at the New York University School of Medicine, the president of the medical board of The Lenox Hill Hospital, the director of neurovascular interventions at the Utah Heart Clinic and a professor of medicine and radiology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Most recently, Dr. Roubin co-founded Essential Medical Inc., which has had found success in bringing a large bore vascular closure device to the global marketplace. 

To support his professional endeavors, Dr. Roubin obtained a Bachelor of Veterinary Science, with honors, from the University of Queensland in 1970, a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 1975, a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Sydney in 1985, and a Doctor of Medicine in 1995. Having been integral to the development of device technology, innovative techniques for the treatment of coronary and peripheral atherosclerosis, he has also been recognized as a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Royal Australian College of Physicians, the Council on Clinical Cardiology of the American Heart Association, the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Intervention, and the Society for Vascular Medicine and Biology, to name a few. A prolific author with more than 280 papers published in peer-reviewed medical journals and a book, “The First Balloon Expandable Coronary Stent: An Expedition that Changed Cardiovascular Medicine,” available on Amazon, he has been further honored by his peers as profiled among the Best Doctors and Best Cardiologists in America for 25 years.
