Steven C. Maller, DDS, president and owner of San Antonio Periodontics & Implants, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of dentistry.
With three decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Maller is a proven leader in the field of dentistry. Specializing in periodontics and oral surgery, he currently operates as the president and owner of San Antonio Periodontics & Implants, having originally joined the company in 2013, where he works alongside his colleague, Dr. William H. Stalker. He previously served in the United States Air Force from 1992 to 2013 as a dentist in the Air Force Dental Corps, during which time he toured in the United Kingdom and worked as the director of clinical periodontics and director of resident education and training. Prior to retiring from military service, Dr. Maller achieved the rank of colonel.
Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Dr. Maller pursued a higher education, earning a Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Nebraska in 1992. Shortly thereafter, he completed his residency at the Erling Bird Strategic Hospital in 1993. During his tenure in the Air Force, he also completed a residency in periodontics at the University Texas Health Science Center between 1997 and 2000, graduating with a Specialty Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Science in periodontics. In addition to his academic credentials, Dr. Maller is also board certified in periodontics and dental implants by the American Board of Periodontology, an organization in which he maintains an active membership.
As part of his dedication to his profession, Dr. Maller also remains affiliated with several other industry-related organizations, including the American College of Dentists, the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association. He also continues to serve his community as a civic-minded citizen, regularly volunteering in outreach missions at his local Concordia Lutheran Church. Well-regarded for his accomplishments in the field, Dr. Maller has been honored with five Meritorious Service Medals and a Commendation Medal from the Air Force.
In light of his family’s lineage in the field of pharmaceuticals, medicine and military service, Dr. Maller naturally gravitated toward a career in medicine from an early age. To wit, he began his career by working in a local pharmacy during high school, with his grandfather and father having previously served in the Air Force as well, he was confident in continuing their legacy of service. And while he had several options available to him following the completion of his residency programs, including a full career in academia, Dr. Maller swiftly chose to pursue a path of managing his own private practice, which he remains notably proud of to this day.
