Since 2002, she has operated as a physician and obstetrician-gynecologist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), one of the leading hospitals and joint medical clinics in the state of Pennsylvania. As part of her duties at the medical center, she works alongside fellow industry professionals at UPMC Womancare Associates, UPMC Passavant, UPMC East and UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital. Prior to joining UPMC, Dr. Chesin worked as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh for several years, and she operated her own private practice for 10 years.
Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Dr. Chesin pursued a formal education. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, she achieved a Doctor of Medicine in 1972, after previously earning a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in special education. She subsequently completed her residency at Western Pennsylvania Hospital. In addition to her academic credentials, Dr. Chesin is fully certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology Inc.
As part of her dedication to her profession, Dr. Chesin maintains her status as a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Adjacent to her primary professional endeavors, she also serves on the board of directors of Women’s Shelter. To commemorate her accomplishments in the field, Dr. Chesin was honored as one of the Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
In light of her fulfilling career, Dr. Chesin largely attributes her success to her dedication to her patients. Though she originally pursued a career as a teacher and specialist in pediatric neurology, she eventually turn to obstetrics and gynecology, as they allowed her more freedom to help others. Accounting for her accomplishments, Dr. Chesin is most notably proud to have developed countless positive relationships with her patients and community throughout her career.
