Linda A. DiMatteo, PhD, LPC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mental health.
Since 2009, Dr. DiMatteo has worked as a psychotherapist in private practice and with the EMDR Institute. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, is a psychotherapy treatment that was designed to treat and alleviate the distress caused by traumatic memories. In her post, Dr. DiMatteo consults with and evaluates patients, designs treatment plans, and conducts research.
Dr. DiMatteo’s areas of expertise include EMDR and treatment for addiction, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She prepared for her career at Widener University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration, and later graduated from Neumann University with a Master of Science in pastoral counseling in 2006. Dr. DiMatteo concluded her higher education at Neumann University with a Doctor of Philosophy in counseling supervision and education in 2020.
In addition to her formal degrees, Dr. DiMatteo holds numerous professional certifications. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and holds a postgraduate certification in cognitive behavioral therapy from the Hospital of Philadelphia’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, which she earned in 2007. Dr. DiMatteo is a Certified EMDR Therapist and was recognized for her accomplishments with a Woman of Achievement Award from the Board of Gloucester County in 2017.
Dr. DiMatteo attributes her success to her faith in God. She worked as a business analyst for 25 years before feeling the need for something new in her life, after which she returned to her education and pivoted her career to counseling. Among her career accomplishments, she is proudest of her doctoral dissertation titled “Spiritual Integration and EMDR: Exploring Psycho-Spiritual Synthesis in the PTSD and SUD Community.” In the coming years, Dr. DiMatteo hopes to finish the book she is currently working on, which details her experiences, spiritual journey, and professional education. The book will be titled “Finding Grace.”
