In preparation for his career in medicine, Dr. Misenheimer began his higher education at Wake Forest University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 2005. In 2009, he completed his Doctor of Medicine from the same institution. After completing his degrees, Dr. Misenheimer completed an internship and subsequent residency in internal medicine at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was a fellow in cardiovascular disease at the Medical College of Georgia from 2012 to 2015, and a fellow in interventional cardiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2015 to 2016.

Dr. Misenheimer has found success as an interventional cardiologist with the Charleston Area Medical Center and is licensed to practice medicine in multiple states. He earned his North Carolina State Medical License in 2015, his Georgia State Medical License in 2016, and his West Virginia State Medical License in 2019. He is certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

In recognition of his career accomplishments, Dr. Misenheimer has received numerous awards and accolades. In 2009, he won Best Student Poster from the North Carolina American College of Physicians, and in 2005 he was named a Fred Alton Neal Scholar and an Anne Eller Pardue Scholar by the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Also in 2005, he became a member of the honor societies Phi Beta Kappa, the Order of Omega, and Omicron Delta Kappa. A lifelong achiever, Dr. Misenheimer became an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America in 1998.

To remain up to date with changes in his field, Dr. Misenheimer remains a member of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He specializes in high-risk and complex percutaneous coronary intervention and serves on numerous committees with the Charleston Area Medical Center. Dr. Misenheimer attributes his success to his strong work ethic and familial support, as his wife is a physician specializing in non-invasive cardiology. He considers his children his most important achievement, and in the coming years, he hopes to see the growth of the percutaneous coronary intervention program at his hospital.
