In preparation for his career in medicine, he attended Texas Tech University and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1977. In 1982 he graduated from the Texas Tech University Health Science Center with a Doctor of Medicine.
In his current position with Tenet Physician Resources, part of the Tenet Hospital Corporation, Dr. Misenhimer sees patients in his office and performs orthopedic surgeries. Prior to this post, he was an orthopedic surgeon with multiple companies, including a private practice he co-owned with another orthopedic surgeon. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Texas Tech University Regional Academic Health Center in El Paso, Texas, and was a specialist fellow in surgery of the spine under Dr. L.L. Wiltse. Dr. Misenhimer also completed an internship with Texas Tech University’s R.E. Thomason Hospital in El Paso.
Dr. Misenhimer has been in practice for nearly 35 years. Throughout his long and accomplished career, he has kept up to date with developments in his field through membership in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, Orthopedic Surgeons Associates, and Phi Kappa Phi. He attributes his success to how he was raised and the work ethic his upbringing instilled in him. Throughout his career, he has contributed his time to various volunteer endeavors.
Dr. Misenhimer became involved in his career because of his higher education. He realized he wanted to pursue medicine and skipped from earning a bachelor’s degree to pursuing his Doctor of Medicine. In the coming years, he plans to retire and leave a legacy of integrity, professionalism, longevity, and excellence as an orthopedic surgeon.
