Since 2006, she has prospered as the owner and physician at Oster Medical Group in Boise, Idaho. Before beginning her own practice, she operated with Saint Alphonsus Hospital from 1999 to 2006. She also served as the chief of the Infection Control Committee at a doctor’s hospital in Pinole, California, from 1990 to 1998, with the AIDS clinics in Martinez and Oakland, California, from 1985 to 1999, and as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of California Davis from 1985 to 1989. Dr. Oster began her career in 1985 after completing her residency at the VA Medical Center in Martinez, California, where she was previously recognized with the Resident of the Year Award.

Prior to embarking on her vocational journey, Dr. Oster cultivated a formal education, beginning with her time at the University of Colorado, where she earned a Bachelor of Science with honors from The Phi Beta Kappa Society. She subsequently continued her studies at East Virginia Medical School, where she earned an MD in 1980. Adjacent to her primary professional duties, Dr. Oster also remains active as a civic-minded citizen in her community, volunteering with the Idaho Historical Society and participating as a flutist in the Canyon County Flute Orchestra and the Mulligan Capital City Band. Furthermore, she remains affiliated with several notable organizations, including the American Board of Internal Medicine and her respective state and county medical associations. To commemorate her accomplishments in the field, she was recognized with the America’s Best in Medicine Award by the American Health Council in 2019. Dr. Oster largely attributes her success to her talent for connecting with her patients, and she hopes to retire sometime in the near future.
