He currently operates as an emergency medicine specialist at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport, North Carolina, where he also serves on the board of directors. Prior to his current appointments, Dr. Batts worked as the chief of emergency medicine at Caldwell UNC Health Care for 20 years. As part of his dedication to his profession, he has also functioned as the county EMS medical director, and he remains a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the North Carolina Medical Society.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Batts pursued an education at the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine, where he achieved a Doctor of Medicine in 1988. In addition to his academic credentials, he is also board certified in emergency medicine, having completed a residency program in 1991. Furthermore, Dr. Batts honorably served with the United States Air Force for 10 years. To commemorate his accomplishments in the field, he was previously recognized with a Senior Leadership Award and the George M. Hancock Award for Excellence in Patient Care. In light of his numerous achievements, he attributes much of his success to his mother, who instilled in him a strong work ethic. To wit, Dr. Batts is proud to have cultivated a fulfilling career in the health care industry, and he hopes to participate in more mission work and publish a poetry book in the near future.
