Dr. Cohen earned an associate degree in respiratory therapy from Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California in 1977 and a bachelor’s degree in the same from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California in 1979. In 1984, he graduated from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Kansas City University in 1984 with a doctorate in osteopathic medicine. He completed an internship at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He specializes in hospice and palliative care.
Dr. Cohen holds many certificates and is board certified through multiple boards to provide treatment of all kinds to patients, including emergency medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. He stays active as a member of several medical groups, including the American Osteopathic Association, Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons of California and AMDA – The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine. He is also an actor and registered member with SAG-AFTRA, known as the Screen Actors Guild.
During his career, Dr. Cohen has received multiple honors and awards, including being named as VITAS team physician of the year, medical director of the year and hospice physician of the year. He has also been nominated for acting awards for performances in multiple stage plays. He attributes his success to al the learning he has experienced in his career. He plans to continue providing treatment to patients in the future and help build stronger training programs for medical students starting their careers.
