Lisandra Pérez Colón, Physician, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical practice and instruction.
After obtaining a Medical Doctor from Ponce Health Sciences University in 1997, Dr. Pérez Colón served a residency program in internal medicine from 1997 to 2000 and as chief resident from 2000 to 2001 with Damas Hospital in Ponce. She then completed a fellowship program in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine with VA Caribbean Healthcare System in San Juan from 2001 to 2004.
Besides providing superior care in private practice since 2004, Dr. Pérez Colón also has flourished as an associate professor with the Ponce School of Medicine since 2006. To remain aware of changes and advancements in her field, Dr. Pérez Colón maintains affiliations with the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society (ATS), American College of Physicians (ACP), Women in Medicine (WIM); and Asociación Médica de Puerto Rico (AMPR). Her career honors include 1st Prize at the Damas Hospital Scientific Meeting, a scholarship through the University Achievement Academy, a Special Award from the Instituto Nacional de Estadística and the Club Exchange Award.
Dr. Pérez Colón attributes her success to her wonderful mother. She made a promise to her that she would treat every patient as family. As a career highlight, she cites noticing a lapse in care of a fellow physician who had contracted influenza and recommended he be moved to the intensive care unit (ICU), which helped save his life. In coming years, she intends to keep caring for her patients to the best of her possible abilities.
