Parul Makkar, Dentist at PDM Family Dental, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in dental health practice and administration.
After initially obtaining a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond in 1999, Dr. Makkar continued her education with a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Oklahoma in Norman in 2003. She followed with coursework in interdisciplinary training, child abuse and neglect at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and a general practice residency with Staten Island University Hospital in New York. In private practice since 2003, she has provided superior care as owner of PDM family Dental in Jericho since 2018.
Keenly cognizant of community affairs and the mother of two young sons, Dr. Makkar volunteers with Give Kids A Smile, a program run by the American Dental Association that provides dental and oral care to underserved children. In addition, she also volunteered for the Calgary Urban Project Society (CUPS). A member of the American Dental Association and the Nassau County Dental Association and a trusted voice in her field, Dr. Makkar wrote the foreword and the epilogue of the book “Life Interrupted: Dr. Dua’s Survival Guide.”
Dr. Makkar attributes her success to her parents’ support and their emphasis on education. She also considers her husband’s unwavering love support to be integral to her success. In the coming years, Dr. Makkar intends to make a difference in the field, placing emphasis on dentists building relationships with patients that they treat. She also is a strong advocate for oral cancer screenings and early detections, as her brother, Dr. Manu Dua, succumbed to oral cancer.
