Agustin Legido, Professor at Cooper University Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pediatric neurology practice and instruction.

Hailing from Spain, Dr. Legido obtained a Doctor of Medicine and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Zaragoza and served a residency in pediatrics with Hospital Clinico Universitario. After immigrating to the United States in 1995, he earned an executive Master of Business Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia and a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) from the American College of Physician Executives. 

Dr. Legido completed residencies in pediatrics with St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia and in neurology with the Medical College of Pennsylvania, as well as fellowships in pediatric neurology with The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and neurology research with the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. 

Dr. Legido has imparted his knowledge as a professor with Drexel and Temple Universities in Philadelphia, as professor of pediatrics with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University in Camden, New Jersey for two years and as a division head of pediatric neurology and developmental medicine with Cooper University Health Care since 2020. 

Among Dr. Legido’s many accolades are American Epilepsy Society’s Junior Investigator Travel Award, American Registry’s America’s Most Honored Professionals Award, an honorary Argentinian Child Neurology Society membership, Castle Connolly Top Doctor  from 2020 through 2018, Extraordinary Award of Doctorate, given to the best Doctoral Thesis presented at the University of Zaragoza School of Medicine during the academic period 1983 to 1985, the Pediatric Spanish Society’s National Award of Pediatric Research and Philadelphia Magazine’s Top Doctor in 2005, 2009 to 2015 and 2018 to 2019.

To remain aware of changes and advancements in his field, Dr. Legido maintains affiliations with the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Child Neurology Society, American Academy of Neurology, American Epilepsy Society,American Society for Pediatric Research, Spanish Pediatric Society, Spanish Child Neurology Society, Iberoamerican Academy of Child Neurology and the International Child Neurology Association.

Dr. Legido attributes his success to his parents and the personality that was forged by his teachers and knowing that hard work and persistence is the essence of success. He considers his most notable achievement coming to the United States and becoming a full-time professor in several universities. Another highlight of his career was being recognized as one of the best pediatric neurologists by Philadelphia magazine and nationally. Likewise, he has done research in different areas that was published in different papers. These areas include perinatal neurology, mitochondrial disorders, epilepsy, and autism. In the coming years, Dr. Legido intends to continue to practice medicine and contribute more in the area of pediatric neurology in the United States.
