From a young age, Dr. Acunto had a strong interest in science and biology. He found that medicine was a great avenue for him to combine his interest and skills in science, and his passion for helping people. His most notable achievement professionally as the director of emergency department has been his ability to improve processes and policies to make the department stronger. When it comes to Dr. Acunto’s medical legal experience with his executive juris doctorate, he maintains that that his greatest contribution has been his ability to help restructure peer review at AtlantiCare.

In the coming years, Dr. Acunto would like to look at other ways to improve diagnosis in medicine, specifically in the emergency department. Diagnostic errors are still an issue despite the improvements in technology. He thinks there is opportunities to really improve and help avoid diagnostic errors. In terms of his career, he would like to see himself advancing into the corporate suite of a healthcare organization, where he can use both his medical and his legal experience to help bring about high quality care for an institution.
