He is a graduate of the Pearlman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (AOA), followed by an internship and medical residency at the University of Michigan Hospital, and then rheumatology fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital and Albany Medical College Hospital.
Dr. Glick reflects upon his philosophy of medical practice as it represents a balance of evidence-based medicine and the knowledge and intuition acquired by 50 years of diligence in the care of patients. He feels a kinship with the philosophy of Paracelsus expressed in the 16th century: “Every physician must be rich in knowledge, and not only of that which is written in books. His patients should be his book. They will never mislead him.” Furthermore, Dr. Glick has been equally inspired by the wise philosophy of Dr. Paul Caplan, a highly respected mid-20th century Pittsburgh internist and rheumatologist who Dr. Glick knew of as a boy when he attended his ailing uncle in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania: “Remember the art of listening. Take time to hear about the whole life of the patient, not just the disease. If you treat your practice as an avocation, not just a vocation, it will never be work.”
