Since 2015, he has excelled as the founder and chief executive officer of NEO Dental Centers, Inc., in Aurora, Colorado, and since 1985, has been in private practice as the orthodontist and owner of Aurora Orthodontics & TMJ. Furthermore, he has served as the owner of Adams Capital Management Ltd. since 1985. During his professional tenure, Dr. Lauson has notably developed techniques for orthodontic treatment and is renowned in his industry for obtaining excellence with complex orthodontic and TMJ cases.
Alongside his primary vocation, Dr. Lauson is a best-selling author, having penned the book “Straight Talk about Crooked Teeth” and his most recent book, “NEO Way,” a simplified guidebook to early orthodontic treatment for the average layperson. Additionally, he has lectured at myriad dental and orthodontic meetings across the nation to share his wealth of knowledge and influence, including his “10 keys to facial harmony,” a philosophy through which he works on an average basis. Furthermore, he lectures alongside other orthodontics around the globe in virtual annual conferences, including for the American Academy of Physiologic Medicine and Dentistry. As a testament to his success, Dr. Lauson has been lauded in several arenas, including behind listed in the Guide to America’s Top Dentists by the Consumers Research Council of America and receiving the distinction of “Best of Aurora” in orthodontics from the U.S. Local Business Association.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Lauson pursued a formal education at the University of Wyoming, where he completed pre-dentistry studies in 1967. Relocating to the University of Iowa Dental School, he obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1971 and served two years in the Dental Corps of the United States Air Force, where he earned a periodontics certificate and was the preventive dentistry officer of his base. After being discharged from the military, Dr. Lauson completed an orthodontic residency and earned a Master of Science in orthodontics from the St. Louis University Medical Center in 1975.
A fellow of the International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics, Dr. Lauson maintains membership with the American Association of Orthodontists, the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists, the Colorado Association of Orthodontists and the American Association for Functional Orthodontics. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Colorado Dental Association, the Metro Denver Dental Society, and the American Academy and Board of Head, Facial and Neck Pain and TMJ Orthopedics. He has sat on the advisory board of the Journal of Oral Hygiene and Health and also served as a volunteer orthopedist for the Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped between 1985 and 2018.
Recognized among the Leading Physicians in the World, Dr. Lauson serves as the Colorado representative for Distinguished Physicians of the World. Looking toward the future, he intends to expand his practice and go nationwide with his dental philosophies.
