Prior to beginning his career, Dr. Villarreal pursued a formal education in his native home of the Republic of Panama, ultimately achieving a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Panama in 1990. After immigrating to the United States in 1994, he subsequently continued his studies and completed a fellowship in immunology at the University of Miami the same year. Similarly, Dr. Villarreal completed an internship in internal medicine at the Metropolitan Hospital of the New York Medical College and his residency in anesthesiology at the Temple University Hospital. Well-regarded for his accomplishments in the field, he was honored with a Physician Recognition Award from the American Medical Association. In light of his fulfilling career, Dr. Villarreal largely attributes his success to his patience and perseverance.
