For much of his career, he has served as a physician and professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where he operates as the chief of geriatric psychiatry and ECT. He mainly works with elderly patients dealing with dementia, in addition to supervising other physicians, psychologists and social workers. Adjacent to his primary professional duties, Dr. Ogunmefun also maintains his dedication to the performing arts, acting as a choir director for OGS America.
Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Dr. Ogunmefun pursued a formal education, achieving a Doctor of Medicine at the College of Medicine at the University of Lagos. He subsequently completed a residency and fellowship in psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2002 and 2003, respectively. To commemorate his earliest achievements, he was named the Best Resident of his program, and he earned a Pfizer Award in 2001. Accounting for his accomplishments, Dr. Ogunmefun is particularly proud to have made a difference in his community as part of his practice, and he looks forward to leaving a lasting legacy as he continues his work in the coming years.
