To support his career, Dr. Ciurea pursued an education at Universitatea de Medicina si Farmacie Iasi, from which he earned a Doctor of Medicine. He subsequently refined his skills with residencies and fellowships at Pinnacle Health Hospitals, the University of Illinois and the University of Texas’ MD Anderson Cancer Center. As a testament to his professional success, he has been presented with a Clinical Innovator Award from the University of Texas’ MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2015, the High Impact Clinical Research Support Program Award from the University of Texas’ MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2014 and the Resident of the Year Award from Pinnacle Health Hospitals. Attributing his success to his family and mentors, hard work, and desire to improve the stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy practice, Dr. Ciurea hopes to continue building the stem cell transplant and cellular therapy program at UCI Medical Center by obtaining grant funding for important projects and developing a new form of therapy for cancer patients by utilizing natural killer cells.
