William P. Bristol, MD, FAAP, Staff Pediatrician at the Southeast Georgia Health System, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pediatrics.

In preparation for his career, Dr. Bristol completed his medical degree at the University of Michigan School of Medicine in 1965. He garnered experience as an intern and fellow at Bronson Methodist Hospital and completed his residency at the Denver Children’s Hospital. As a board-certified pediatrician through the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Bristol has found success since 2007 as a staff pediatrician with the Southeast Georgia Health System.

Prior to his current post, Dr. Bristol was a faculty member of the Medical College of Georgia’s Department of Pediatrics. He served as an administrator with the Southeast Georgia Health System’s Brunswick Campus and was a professor at Emory University for a decade. For six years, he worked as a faculty member at Mercer University. Dr. Bristol garnered additional experience as an assistant dean at North Dakota University, vice chief of staff with the Veterans Administration Medical Center, university administrator, and professor at Michigan State University.

Dr. Bristol served active duty for three years in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1970. For his accomplishments, he received a Service Medal. He was featured in “Dr. William P. Bristol: A Community Treasure” by Healthy Partners in 2021 and has received multiple teaching awards.

To keep abreast of developments in his field, Dr. Bristol has maintained affiliation with numerous professional organizations. He was the former president and is a member of the Georgia chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Bristol is also a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Motivated to join his career field because of the need for physicians in the 1950s and 1960s, Dr. Bristol considers working with children and sharing his love of music to be the highlights of his career. He lives by the motto: “hard work is worthwhile.” In the coming years, Dr. Bristol plans to continue finding success and helping his patients in his current position. He has no plans to retire.
