K.C. Nayfield, MS, DVM, Retired Veterinary Surgeon at Dade City Animal Clinic, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in veterinary medicine.

A retired veterinarian with decades of experience to his credit, Dr. Nayfield most recently worked for the Dade City Animal Clinic as a veterinary surgeon from 2019 to 2022. Prior to this role, he was a veterinary surgeon and owner of the Midway Animal Hospital from 1982 to 2021 and of K.C. Nayfield, DVM, PA from 1982 to 2009. Dr. Nayfield garnered further experience as a veterinarian with the Young’s Indian River Animal Hospital from 1980 to 1982. He began his career as a research assistant in veterinary science at the University of Florida from 1974 to 1977.

Dr. Nayfield prepared for his career at Florida State University, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in biology, cum laude. He went on to earn a Master of Science in veterinary physiology at the University of Florida in 1978 and served as an animal health aide with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. After working as a veterinary trainee with the same organization in 1979, Dr. Nayfield graduated from the University of Florida with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1980.

Alongside his primary degrees, Dr. Nayfield held a United States Coast Guard Captain’s License for a decade. He also earned a United States Power Squadrons Certification and was senior navigator with the organization. For more than a decade, Dr. Nayfield contributed as an assistant coach and amateur athletic trainer for soccer. He is also an author, writing “Some of my Best Patients Were Animals: Memoirs of a Florida Veterinarian,” and a singer, publishing a 14-track original album titled “Stories.”

Dr. Nayfield has maintained affiliation with numerous organizations, including serving as the past president of the Rotary Club of Crystal River, the Friends of the Crystal River Wildlife Refuge, and the Veterinary Alumni Association of the University of Florida. He was the secretary of the Citrus Chapter of the Florida Conservation Association and served as the founder and president of Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation from 1985 to 1995. In the coming years, Dr. Nayfield hopes to continue writing and staying active in land preservation efforts in his community.
