With over 40 years of experience to her credit, Dr. Goldberg is a leading expert in the fields of nutrition and dietetics. A specialist in the health care industry, she has served as a level two clinical dietitian at Carilion Children’s Hospital since 2005. Focusing her efforts on assessing the nutritional needs of her patients, she primarily provides nutrition information and advice to those in the neonatal intensive care unit. Adjacent to her primary duties, Dr. Goldberg also operates as a faculty member in the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, and she is a professor at various universities.

Before embarking on her vocational journey, Dr. Goldberg pursued a formal education. Over the course of her collegiate career, she earned a bachelor’s degree in dietetics at the University of California, Davis, a master’s degree in public health nutrition at Case Western University, and a doctorate at the University of Tennessee. In addition to her academic credentials, she is also a registered dietitian nutritionist. As part of her dedication in the field, Dr. Goldberg also remains affiliated with the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group, and she is a former board member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Well regarded for her creative and scholarly output, Dr. Goldberg has published several peer-reviewed essays pertaining to malnutrition, and she previously presented “Putting the Neonatal/Preterm Malnutrition Indicators into Practice.” To commemorate her accomplishments in the field, she was recognized as an Outstanding Neonatal Dietician by the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group. In all of her endeavors, Dr. Goldberg has strived to live by her motto of remaining open to new ideas.

In light of her numerous achievements, Dr. Goldberg largely attributes her success to her perseverance and willingness to dedicate her time to her goals. Her mother also served as a great source of inspiration. She is notably proud of her work in documenting and diagnosing malnutrition. In the coming years, Dr. Goldberg expects she will retire from professional work.
