Patrick C. Breaux, section head of consultative cardiology at the Ochsner Health Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in cardiology.

With over 50 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Breaux has cultivated a career of excellence in the field of cardiology. Since 2006, he has served as the section head of consultative cardiology at the Ochsner Health Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, where specializes in clinical cardiology and oversees consultative services and patient assessment and treatment. Adjacent to his primary responsibilities, he has held several other key roles over the course of his tenure at the medical center, including as the medical director of the cardiac step down unit from 2008 to 2016 and as a member of the performance improvement executive committee between 2014 and 2017. Dr. Breaux began his career in 1975, working as a staff physician at Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital in New Orleans until 2005.

Dr. Breaux also serves as a clinical associate professor of medicine at the Tulane University School of Medicine since 1999, where he previously achieved a Doctor of Medicine in 1966. As part of his tenure at Tulane University, he completed an internship in internal medicine in 1967, his chief residency in internal medicine in 1972, and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease in 1974. He originally began his collegiate studies at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1962. In addition to his academic credentials, Dr. Breaux has held a medical license in the state of Louisiana since 1966, and he was board certified in cardiovascular disease and in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1974 and 1972, respectively.

As part of his commitment to his profession, Dr. Breaux remains affiliated with several industry-related organizations, including the Medical Association of Southeast Louisiana and the American College of Cardiology Foundation. He has also proudly served as the president of the Louisiana State Medical Society and the Orleans Parish Medical Society. Well regarded for his accomplishments in the field, he has been honored with several awards and accolades, including being named in the Louisiana Life Top Doctors since 2010 and in the New Orleans Magazine Top Doctors since 2000. Furthermore, Dr. Breaux was inducted into the Louisiana State Medical Society Hall of Fame in 2014.

Prior to embarking on his vocational journey, Dr. Breaux honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1969 as a battalion surgeon for the 13th Engineer Combat Battalion. In addition to his professional accomplishments and dedication, he is also well known for his scholarly output, having contributed numerous articles and papers on infectious diseases and cardiology to several academic journals, including the American Journal of Cardiology. Accounting for his many achievements, he attributes much of his success to his passion for and engagement in the medical field and his local community. In the coming years, Dr. Breaux hopes to continue finding success as a public servant and participating in community initiatives and efforts that will positively impact the lives of others.
