She subsequently continued her studies at the University of Bridgeport, where she received a Master of Education in 1970. She ultimately achieved a PhD at Walden University in 1995. Well regarded for her academic and professional accomplishments, Dr. Goodwin has been recognized with several accolades and commendations, including a Distinguished Alumni and Fellow Award from Eastern Connecticut in 2012 and the Distinguished Counselor of the Year Award from the American Mental Health Counselors Association. To wit, she attributes much of her success to her dedicated work ethic and perseverance. In the coming years, Dr. Goodwin hopes to develop her skills in watercolor painting and open an art exhibit.
