Furthermore, she has also served as a licensed mental health counselor for Allied Health Organization in Florida since 2002. Adjacent to her primary professional duties, Dr. Goodwin has also dedicated herself to civic advocacy, serving on the board of trustees at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital from 1996 to 2008, as a member of the handicap advisory committee in the town of Easton, Massachusetts, from 1998 to 2002, and as the president of the Massachusetts Select Board Association in 2001.
Dr. Goodwin’s performance in the field was born of her educational journey, which began at Eastern Connecticut State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education in 1969. She subsequently continued her studies at the University of Bridgeport, where she received a Master of Education in 1970. She ultimately achieved a PhD at Walden University in 1995. Well regarded for her academic and professional accomplishments, Dr. Goodwin has been recognized with several accolades and commendations, including a Distinguished Alumni and Fellow Award from Eastern Connecticut in 2012 and the Distinguished Counselor of the Year Award from the American Mental Health Counselors Association. To wit, she attributes much of her success to her dedicated work ethic and perseverance. In the coming years, Dr. Goodwin hopes to develop her skills in watercolor painting and open an art exhibit.
