Felix Wireko, Physician at Howard University Hospital, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical services.
Dr. Wireko obtained a Medical Doctor in 2015 from the University of Ghana Medical School in Accra and provided superior care as a physician in his home country from 2017 to 2020, where he was responsible for patient care and services upon admission, treatment plans, preliminary rounds, and educational conferences. Dr. Wireko is a pioneer member of His Stripes Medical group, a Christian non-governmental organization tasked to help improve emergency medical services and care in Ghana.
After immigrating to the United States, Dr. Wireko currently excels as a physician resident at Howard University Hospital in Washington, where his concentration is on internal medicine. Among his responsibilities is taking care of patients who have been admitted, doing preliminary rounds on patients in the morning to check on their vital readings and attending afternoon conferences.
Dr. Wireko attributes his success to his strong faith, perseverance, being focused, and not giving up. He knows what he wants and does his best to achieve it. Growing up in Ghana, he recognized the need to help out in his community and knew that the best way he could be of help was to take care of the sick. This was his motivation that got him into medical school. He credits his wife for his relocation from Ghana to the United States as the one who encouraged her to make the move when it seemed difficult and impossible.
Dr. Wireko’s goal in the coming years is to become a pulmonary and critical care physician. He is very passionate about medical education and desires to contribute his part in the training of young physicians.
