Arun Singh, Physician at Ferlauto Center for Complex Pediatric Care, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in palliative care for adolescents and children.

Since 2017, Dr. Singh has provided high-quality palliative medicine to the inpatient and outpatient pediatric population for the Upstate region of South Carolina and is developing a transitional care committee for medically-complex children aging into adulthood. His research and professional passion lies within furthering palliative medicine education within pediatric residency and sub-specialty fellowship programs.

After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Science in physiology and neurobiology with minors in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Connecticut in Storrs in 2005, Dr. Singh followed with a Doctor of Medicine in 2010 from the Saba University School of Medicine and then served a residency in pediatrics with Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and the Department of Pediatrics, University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences from 2010 to 2013 and a fellowship with  Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Inc. Department of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine from 2013 to 2016. Dr. Singh then expanded his knowledge with a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine with the Department of Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore from 2016 to 2017.

Dr. Singh’s certifications include Hospice and Palliative Medicine Specialists from the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board, Hospice and Palliative Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine and a diplomate from the American Board of Pediatrics.

After providing superior care as a physician with PediaKare, LLC from 2014 to 2017 and with MedWay Air Ambulance from 2016 to 2017, Dr. Singh has excelled as clinical instructor and clerkship director of the pediatric palliative care clerkship with Department of Pediatrics, University of South Carolina School of Medicine and attending physician, medical director of palliative pediatric support for the Department of Pediatrics at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital from 2017 to the present and a part-time attending physician with the Department of Internal Medicine at the Division of Palliative Care with Prisma Health from 2019 to the present and a part-time attending physician with the Department of Pediatrics at Ferlauto Center for Complex Pediatric Care with Prisma Health from 2021 to the present.

Dr. Singh attributes his success to hard work, determination and resiliency. He also attributes his success to his grandparents and his parents. They have always instilled in him the importance of education and hard work.  What stuck with him was what his grandmother told him, “No man could ever take your education from you,” which inspired him to educate others in the field of medicine.

What solidified Dr. Singh’s desire to prioritize the pediatrics population was seeing essentially how resilient children are. Additionally, even when a child was diagnosed with a severe illness, Dr. Singh is still able to help foster some hope with them, with the ultimate goal of providing them the best chance for a long-term success.

In the coming years, Dr. Singh hopes to continue his work as a physician and continue working with the pediatric population. He hopes to be able to handle larger scale medical projects within the health system, as well as community engagement. He hopes for others to understand the goal of how palliative care can help children.
