Aaliya Burza, MD, FCCP, Physician at Equum Medical Acute Care Telehealth, Samaritan Medical Center and SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pulmonology.

Renowned for her expertise in the field of pulmonary critical care medicine, Dr. Burza has served for eight years as a physician at EQUUM Medical Acute Care Telehealth, Samaritan Medical Center and the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Health Science University, where she has also been a clinical assistant professor in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Dr. Burza earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the Government Medical College of Jammu and Kashmir in India in 2001, followed by a residency in family medicine at SUNY System Downstate Health Sciences University and a second residency in internal medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital. She also completed a fellowship in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine at SUNY System Downstate Health Sciences University and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the Royal College of Physicians in England.

Dr. Burza finds a great sense of fulfillment comes from following an unorthodox career path, as she went from surgery to family medicine and internal medicine before settling in pulmonary critical care. The other source of her pride and joy is obtaining aerospace medicine training with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), along with the fact that she is a liaison for the research project related to one of their Artemis missions. Of all her accomplishments, she feels that her work with NASA will be her greatest professional contribution to humanity. She also loves setting an example for her two children, who perceptively see her hard work and passion in everything she does. Instead of giving them goals, she does things she wants to pursue by herself, which inspires them to do just as well.
