Brian Robinson, Founder at Southwest Bone & Joint Institute, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in orthopedic treatment.
Following obtaining a Medical Doctor from the University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine in Albuquerque in 1994, Dr. Robinson completed his orthopedic surgery residency at UNM Health Sciences Center. He has developed his expertise in total joint replacement and sports medicine as board-certified orthopedic surgeon and has held such professional appointments as Chief of Staff for Gila Regional Medical Center, Silver City, and Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Orthopedics, UNM School of Medicine. Dr. Robinson currently serves as Team Physician for the athletic teams of Western New Mexico University, and previously was a team physician for the New Mexico Scorpions and the UNM Lobos women’s soccer team.
In 1999, Dr. Robinson founded Grant County Orthopedic Associates in Silver City, now known as the Southwest Bone & Joint Institute, a premier organization providing comprehensive musculoskeletal care that includes physiatry (physical and rehabilitation medicine), EMG/NCV neurological diagnostics, and musculoskeletal imaging. The center features advanced surgical techniques, state-of-the-art technology and small town hospitality and specializes in general orthopedics (bones and soft tissues), total joint replacement, sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, treating orthopedic trauma and fracture, hand surgery, foot and ankle disorders and physical and rehabilitation medicine.
Dr. Robinson attributes his success to his desire of not wanting to fail his patients and himself. As his career highlight, he cites most notable achievement is going back to his hometown and starting his own orthopedic practice whose goal is to provide high quality care to rural communities and patients who come from all over New Mexico. In coming years, Dr. Robinson’s goal is to continue to provide excellent care to his patients. He also aims to bring in a new orthopedic surgeon who would take over the practice when he is ready to retire.
