Syed Wasimul Haque, MD, Physician, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in general practice.
After obtaining a bachelor’s degree from D.J. Sindh Government Science College in Karachi, Pakistan, Dr. Haque continued his education with a medical doctorate in 1984 from Sindh Medical College, now Jinnah Sindh Medical University, in Karachi. Upon immigrating to the United States, he served as an associate from 1995 to 1999 with Maryland General Hospital, now the University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus in Baltimore.
Dr. Haque has thrived for over two decades in private practice as an internist and primary care physician in Frederick, with experience in treating patients who present with chest Infections, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, joint disease, thyroid disease, opioid addiction, kidney disease, COPD and liver diseases.
Avidly interested in community affairs, Dr. Haque has served as president of the Frederick County Muslim Council and has been a member of the group Objectives to Make Muslims Aware of the Political Issues in the Country; chairman of the outreach committee with the Islamic Society of Frederick and president of the United Maryland Muslim Council. Additionally, he excelled as a columnist from 2010 to 2019 with the Frederick News-Post.
Dr. Haque attributes his success to working hard and focusing his attention on his patients, as the smile on his patient’s faces kept him going and the reason he is prospering is their loyalty. He became a doctor because he came from a family of physicians with his grandfather, father, and older brother all being physicians. In the coming years, Dr. Haque intends to continue to practice because he loves where he lives and the people he serves to give him a lot of respect and honor which he thought he would never obtain in his native land.
