At the start of his professional journey, Dr. Hebert earned a bachelor’s degree in neurology from Louisiana Tech University in 1979, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1983. He continued at Louisiana State University Medical Center, where he conducted an internship in internal medicine, a fellowship in pulmonary disease and a fellowship in critical care medicine through 1989. Dr. Hebert’s advice to the next generation of physicians is to be patient with themselves, to respect each discipline with which they will be involved, and to be the physicians who will help their colleagues as much as possible. Looking toward the future, he envisions himself easing into a well-deserved retirement.
