Calvin Weisberger, Physician at Southern California Permanente Medical Group, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in cardiology.
In 1966, Dr. Weisberger obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the Johns Hopkins University as a flight surgeon with the United States Air Force (USAF) School of Aerospace Medicine and continued his education with a medical doctorate from Thomas Jefferson University in 1970. He returned to the USAF as a flight surgeon from 1976 to 1982.
Dr. Weisberger provided superior care as a cardiologist with Southern California Permanente Medical Group from 1975 to 2010. During this time, he was one of the early pioneers of cardiac rehabilitation, a comprehensive model of care including established core components, including structured exercise, patient education, psychosocial counselling, risk factor reduction and behavior modification, with a goal of optimizing patient’s quality of life while helping to reduce the risk of future heart problems.
As a career highlight, Dr. Weisberger cites founding a residency program at his hospital teaching students to better communicate with people. In the coming years, he intends to continue to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.
