After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in biology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1978, Dr. Tracey continued his education with a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1982. He thereupon completed a residency in internal medicine with Texas A&M Medical School, Baylor Scott and White Health from 1982 to 1985 as well as a cardiology fellowship with Baylor Scott and White Health from 1985 to 1987. Dr. Tracey holds certifications from the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
From 1985 until his retirement in 2019, Dr. Tracey provided superior care as an general, invasive and interventional cardiologist with St. David’s Healthcare in Austin, employing specialized imaging and other diagnostic techniques to evaluate blood flow and pressure in the coronary arteries and chambers of the heart and uses technical procedures and medications to treat abnormalities that impair the function of the cardiovascular system.
Dr. Tracey was inspired to enter the medical profession by his father, an orthopedic surgeon, and his interest in science and medicine in his youth. He considers his most notable achievement his ability to treat heart attack patients for over three decades. One of the most gratifying things for him as an interventional cardiologist was when he sent patients home with normal heart function and no further treatment necessary for heart failure or bad rhythm problems. Currently, Dr. Tracey is enjoying his well-deserved retirement.
