Gilbert Westreich, Neurologist, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in neurological practice.
For over 40 years, Dr. Westreich has provided excellent care as a neurologist, diagnosing disorders of the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles, and the involuntary nervous system that controls the heart, lungs and other organs, treating headaches, stroke, dementia, seizures, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, sleep disorders and neuromuscular diseases. He is certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is licensed to practice in California, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Washington and Wisconsin.
Following obtaining a bachelor’s degree from Oberlin College, Ohio, Dr. Westreich earned his medical doctorate from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1965, served an internship with the Pacific Medical Center in 1966, and a fellowship in neurology with the University of Minnesota at Fairview in 1969. For 10 years, he served as medical director with the Park Nicollet Clinic, Minneapolis and with the Veterans Affairs Hospital System for 25 years. He is currently in private practice, providing consultation services to insurance companies.
Dr. Westreich served his country as a first lieutenant and radar officer with the United States Air Force in Arizona, California and Taiwan from 1956 to 1959, served as a physician with the Air Force Reserve for three years and with the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service.
Dr. Westreich maintains that he achieved success through a combination of hard work and luck. He was inspired when he was very young to enter the medical profession by his personal doctor and chose to study neurology under the influence of a university professor. He cites being able to make students learn medicine as his most important achievement.
