Dr. Ruth T. Dubyel, OB-GYN Physician at Rush University Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in obstetrics and gynecology.
Interested in science from a young age, Dr. Dubyel pondered the thought of a career in medicine but ultimately thought her dreams were unattainable. In 2004, she earned a Bachelor of Science in biological anthropology in French literature from George Washington University and began a volunteer internship at the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, where she was eventually absorbed as a physician marketing coordinator. While in this role, Dr. Dubyel grew more interested in working on the business side of health care but also spent time with numerous physicians, leading her to return to the dream she set aside for many years. Notably, she attained a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University in 2011 and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center by 2015.
Today, Dr. Dubyel excels as an OB-GYN physician and instructor at Rush University Medical Center, a role she commenced in 2017 after two years as an attending OB-GYN physician and teaching fellow at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. A member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, she has received an Award for Excellence in Teaching, Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics for the 2019-2020 year, which she cites as a career highlight. Dr. Dubyel attributes the early success in her career to having compassion and empathy for her patients by always providing the best care. Not only is she a hard worker, but she also gives respect to both the people she works with and the people she works for. Looking toward the future, Dr. Dubyel hopes to take on an official leadership role of a group of OB-GYNs, as well as serve in an administrative position at an academic institution. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, tasting fine wines and exploring new restaurants.
