Doc Lloyd D. Lohr, MD, FACOG, obstetrician and gynecologist at the Women’s Center of Lexington, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in obstetrics and gynecology.
With over 50 years of experience in the medical field, Dr. Lohr is proud to have dedicated his career to the medicine, surgery, and healthcare management associated with obstetrics and gynecology. Inspired to pursue a career in the medical field by his family of allied health professionals, he obtained a Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Thereafter, he completed an internship, a residency in general surgery and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the aforementioned institution. Upon graduation, he received a North Carolina State Medical License and became certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and gynecology. Moreover, he completed aviation medicine training at the U.S. Naval School of Aviation Medicine.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Lohr has found notable success as an obstetrician and gynecologist for the Women’s Center of Lexington, which he established in 1970. Moreover, for over 40 years, he has contributed his expertise to the Lexington Memorial Hospital and the Lexington Medical Center. Following completion of aviation medicine training at the U.S. Naval School of Aviation Medicine, he served in the United States Marines as a flight surgeon with the Second Marine Air Wing based in Cherry Point, North Carolina during the Vietnam War.
Dr. Lohr is most proud of his research on female urinary incontinence, and to have delivered over 10,000 babies over the course of his career. Additionally, he is proud to have been featured in the Awards Magazine. To remain abreast with advancements in the field, he has maintained professional affiliations with organizations such as the Davidson County Medical Society, the Southern Medical Association, the Robert A. Walsh OB/GYN Society and the Nathan A. Womack Surgical Society. Additionally, he is recognized as a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
For his accomplishments in the field, Dr. Lohr is honored to have been the recipient of several Best Resident Teacher Awards and awards from Lexington Memorial Hospital. In 2021, he received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award, which is the highest civilian award given out in North Carolina by the governor of the state. Supplementing his professional career, he has excelled as the owner of Granny’s Farm, a family farm in Lexington dedicated to raising horses and cattle and growing hay, corn and soybeans. Looking toward the future, his goal is to continue practicing as an OB/GYN, delivering babies and acting as a mentor to the next generation of medical residents.
