David B. Basch, MD, owner of Spine and Orthopedic Center of New Jersey, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Basch is a board-certified orthopedic and spinal surgeon with more than three decades of practice focusing on patient education and less-invasive therapeutic techniques. A gifted student with a love for helping others, Dr. Basch was naturally inclined to study medicine. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and anthropology at Rutgers University in 1985, and was awarded his Doctor of Medicine degree, with honors, in 1989 by the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Basch’s background in anthropology inspired him to specialize in orthopedics, and after completing his residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, he pursued a fellowship in spinal surgery at the University of Colorado Health Science Center.

Since 2001, Dr. Basch has been the owner and primary practitioner at the Spine and Orthopedic Center of New Jersey, where he diagnoses and treats patients with a range of spinal injuries and conditions. He describes “looking and listening” as the core of his philosophy of practice, and strives to keep patients informed and active in all steps of their treatment process. Dr. Basch is a two-time Patient’s Choice Award recipient and a 2018 Vitals Award Compassionate Doctor, and credits his success to the long-term relationships he has built with many patients and to his refusal to push patients into unnecessary surgeries.

Dr. Basch was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons in 2000, and plans to continue to build his practice, emphasizing that his greatest joy as a doctor is seeing his patients improve. He donates pro bono treatment services to patients in the community, and is a supporter of the New Jersey Guarantor Police and the Wildlife Foundation. A single father, Dr. Basch considers parenting to be his greatest accomplishment, and he enjoys skiing, swimming, and cycling with his daughter.
