Wilhelm Tietke, MD, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in gastroenterology.
Dr. Tietke is a retired board-certified gastroenterologist celebrating more than 45 years of dedication to his patients and specialty. Initially attracted to the medical field as a way to help others and improve the lives of patients in need, Dr. Tietke began his studies at the University of Tuebingen Medical School and the University of Goettingen in his native Germany. He was awarded his medical degree by Eberhard Karls University in 1967, and completed a two-year internship at the City Hospital of Bietigheim before relocating to the United States in 1970. He completed an additional internship and residency at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, between 1971 and 1973, when he was awarded a two-year fellowship in gastroenterology.
After completing his fellowship at the Henry Ford Hospital, Dr. Tietke and his wife settled in Huntsville, Alabama, where he established the Center for Colon and Digestive Disease and began practicing at the Huntsville Endoscopy Center in 2009. Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Tietke was presented with awards for Best Elective Service, and enjoyed mentoring medical students and interns. Dr. Tietke retired from full-time practice in 2009, but continues to work with Medicare patients performing in-home health assessments four days a week. Dr. Tietke is a distinguished Marquis listee who has previously been profiled in more than 30 editions of Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
