Ms. Darvas is a licensed practical nurse currently working with Dr. Sandra Massallo Schubert, MD. She earned her Licensed Practical Nurse credential at the St. Joseph School of Practical Nursing in 1969 on the insistence of her mother. Initially hesitant, Ms. Darvas soon realized what her mother had already recognized: that patient care was her calling. Specializing in caregiving and direct clinical work, Ms. Darvas has spent decades in the field, including several years as a school nurse. She is dedicated to using her skills for the benefit of the community of Loraine and volunteers for In Call Ohio and her local church, including performing blood pressure checks and other preventive diagnostics.
She considers the highlight of her career to be the relationships that she has formed with others in the community and her ability to connect with others despite cultural barriers. Ms. Darvas credits her success to her teachers, her drive to improve, and to the lessons that her late grandmother imparted to her. Outside her work in medicine, Ms. Darvas has spent over a decade as a catechism teacher, and looks forward to the chance to continue helping others and “just watching out for people.” A colon cancer survivor, Ms. Darvas celebrated one year cancer-free in the summer of 2021.
