Dr. Dakwa’s exemplary performance in the field was born of his academic journey, which began in his home country of Ghana, where he attended primary school locally. Following the conclusion of his studies, he traveled to Russia on a government scholarship, where he received a Doctor of Medicine from the Volgograd State Medical University. Dr. Dakwa continued his postgraduate medical education at Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he undertook a residency in anesthesia, as well as a fellowship program at the Yale University Medical School, where he served as an assistant professor. Outside of his primary career efforts, he also conducted an internship at the department of pediatrics at Seton Hall University.
As a commitment to his field, Dr. Dakwa has been active with several relevant organizations. Among them, he is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the North Carolina Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the International Hospital Federation, the latter of which is based in Geneva, Switzerland. Outside of his professional circles, Dr. Dakwa is an avid supporter of charitable works in his native Ghana, where he assists in efforts to provide equitable medical access to his countrymen.
In accounting for his standout success, Dr. Dakwa credits his long and abiding Christian faith. Looking toward the future, he aspires to establish a long-term healthcare facility in Ghana, and continue to support his patients in their struggle against chronic pain.
