C. Steve Schramm, MD, Physician at Family Practice Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in family medicine.
Initially considering a career in chemical engineering or collegiate diving coaching, Dr. Schramm eventually decided to utilize his scientific background in the medical field. Upon earning a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Harvard College in 1980, he went on to attain a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1984. From there, he served the Richland Memorial Hospital at the University of South Carolina as an intern, resident, and chief resident through 1987. Board-certified in family practice, he currently excels as a physician for Family Practice Center, a role he commenced in 1987. Over the years, Dr. Schramm had also gained experience as a physician for Atlanta Wellness Center from 1987 to 1994 and for Atlanta Occupational Center from 1987 to 2001. He had also been chief and vice-chief of the family practice department at Northside Hospital between 1989 and 1992, lending knowledge he acquired as a research assistant in studies in acute intermittent porphyria at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in 1979.
Finding great success in his endeavors, Dr. Schramm was named to Atlanta Top Doctors by Atlanta Magazine and Castle Connolly from 2016 to 2020 and recognized for producing the Family Practice Content-Master Data- for JMJ’s Encounterpro: an electronic medical record in 1998. Outside of his medical feats, he was a promising young diver, having been the Eastern Collegiate Diving Champion of 1980, the recipient of the High Point Award from the Harvard Swimming Team in 1979, a four-time YMCA National Diving Champion and Eastern Interscholastic Diving Champion. He served as assistant to the varsity diving coach at Princeton University, as well as a counselor and instructor at the Boston University Diving Camp and West Point Diving Camp. Looking toward the future, Dr. Schramm hopes to continue practicing medicine as a physician and would like to train his mid-level providers to offer the best possible care possible.
