In preparation for her accomplished career in medicine, Dr. Nieves-Cruz attended the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in general sciences, magna cum laude, in 2010. She continued her education at Ponce Health Sciences University, earning a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2014, and completed her emergency medicine residency at the Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center in 2017. In addition to her degrees, Dr. Nieves-Cruz is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, in addition to numerous further professional credentials.

Since 2018, Dr. Nieves-Cruz has contributed her experience as an attending physician at the Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Previously, she was an attending physician with the Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola, Florida, from 2017 to 2018. From 2015 to 2017, she was a fast-track emergency physician with Emergency Physicians of Central Florida in Orlando, and in 2006 she served as a medical technology assistant at a clinical and bacteriological laboratory in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. In addition to these posts, Dr. Nieves-Cruz has excelled as a researcher in her field.

In 2020, Dr. Nieves-Cruz was a participant on the Broward Health Emergency Medicine Residency Podcast, and she attended numerous lectures on a variety of topics at the American College of Emergency Physicians Conference in 2016, including the management of atrial fibrillation, toxicology, trauma management, and endocrine emergency management. She has shared her knowledge as a lecturer for medical staff, physicians, and medical students, and has volunteered her time with numerous organizations, including the Shepherd’s Hope Clinic in Orlando from 2015 to 2017.
Dr. Nieves-Cruz has been recognized for her accomplishments with a myriad of awards and accolades, including being named a South Florida Business & Wealth Excellence in Healthcare Honoree in 2021, being featured in “Heroes of the Pandemic” in Lifestyle Magazine in 2020, and receiving second place in the SURF Program’s Research Poster Presentation at the University of Rochester’s School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2009. In order to keep abreast of changes and developments in her field, she maintains affiliation with professional organizations including the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Emergency Medicine, the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Fundamental Critical Care Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, and the Theta chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha, among others.
