Joseph P. D’Addesio, MD, physician of emergency medicine at TeamHealth, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Doctors for dedication, achievements, and leadership in emergency medicine and internal medicine.
With a career spanning over 40 years, Dr. D’Addesio contributes his expertise to a variety of emergencies, including trauma victims, cardiac emergencies, victims of stroke and those who have been put on respirators and incubators. Born and raised in Italy, he immigrated to the United States in 1955. Harboring a love for science since high school, he was inspired to explore medicine as a career while working a volunteer job at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in high school. After earning a bachelor’s degree in biology, philosophy and pre-medicine from Fordham University in 1973, he obtained a Doctor of Medicine from Albany Medical College in 1977 and completed his residency in 1984. Moreover, Dr. D’Addesio is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine and was re-certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. D’Addesio is licensed to practice medicine in Texas, Alabama and South Carolina. Throughout his career, he has also taught as a professor with the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the University of Texas. As a result, he possesses a strong background in the area of bedside education of young doctors and students. Presently, he practices full-time as a clinical hands-on emergency medicine doctor in various community hospitals. In this role, Dr. D’Addesio works with mid-level providers in each of his shifts.
Over the course of his career, Dr. D’Addesio has maintained his affiliation with the American College of Physicians and the American College of Emergency Physicians. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he contributes to the Italian Cultural Society of Houston. He is exceptionally proud of his children, who have grown up to be professionals within the fields of medicine and electrical engineering. After retiring as a physician, he aims to focus solely on teaching and traveling. Above all, Dr. D’Addesio considers it an honor and a privilege to help others and save lives.
