Applying the experience he has accrued over the course of over a decade, he has devoted himself to bringing innovative, leading-edge technology and medical services to Hurley Medical Center with the intention to serve Genesee County and the surrounding Mid Michigan areas.

As a child, Dr. Wong had always been interested in pursuing a career in medicine. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Capital University. Though he initially intended on practicing orthopedic surgery, he ultimately chose to focus on general surgery and thereafter earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. During his residency with Ascension Michigan, formerly known as St. John Providence Health System, he was inspired to focus on trauma and critical care surgery. Moreover, while completing a fellowship at Wayne State University, he took an interest in robotic hernia surgery and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Wong is honored to have been recognized as a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. In addition, he has maintained affiliations with the American Hernia Society, the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Burn Association. Beginning in 2016, he has served as the director of the Hurley Medical Center Hernia Center of Excellence as well.

Dr. Wong is credited with building and growing the Hurley Hernia Center through obtaining referrals from large hospital systems. He attributes his success to having good role models and having a strong support base at home. Looking toward the future, he aims to continue practicing at Hurley Medical Center, as he enjoys the patient population, as well as the community atmosphere. He is proud of his ability to provide a service that few doctors are capable of doing. Above all, he enjoys what he does and will actively seek to provide care to as many patients as he can.
