Growing up, he was always interested in studying the science behind medicine. Thereafter, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in 1973 and a Doctor of Medicine from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1977. He completed a residency in pediatrics and a residency in dermatology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1980 and 1983 respectively. Moreover, he is proud to have been recognized as the chief resident in pediatrics at Sinai Hospital between 1980 and 1981 and the chief resident in dermatology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine between 1983 and 1984.
Before establishing himself at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Cohen found success working for organizations such as Sinai Hospital, the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. For his contributions, Dr. Cohen has received numerous awards and accolades, notably from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Dermatology. Most recently, he was a recipient of the Sunshine Award for excellence in dermatology. Throughout his career, he has maintained memberships with various organizations, notably the Maryland Dermatology Society, the International Society of Vascular Anomalies, the Society for Pediatric Dermatology, the Johns Hopkins Medical and Surgical Association and the American Dermatology Association. Looking toward the future, he aims to continue to educate patients and medical professionals alike on topics related to the skin issues of children.
